Plugged In Teen Bands Plugged In Teen Bands

Plugged In is a nonprofit rock band program teaching kids ages 6-19 in Needham and throughout Massachusetts about using music to create positive change in the world. In addition to weekly ensemble band classes, private lessons, songwriting workshops, and community performances, Plugged In students perform in benefit concerts that raise money for causes and organizations chosen by the students themselves. Plugged In provides a nurturing and supportive community to which young musicians feel a sense of belonging, an opportunity to express and be acknowledged for their musical interests and a chance to use their music to help others around the world. The Love Dogs! Take one red-hot horn section—we’re talkin’ alto, tenor, baritone saxes and trombone. Add liberal amounts of barrelhouse boogie-woogie piano and sweet Fender guitar. Pour over a funky swinging rhythm section that Blues Review magazine called “the best in the business”, and top it all off with a crazy and charismatic front man with one of the biggest blues voices around.

Join us again this year for an evening of Folk music and poetry in the round with host Chris Pahud and the Rounders. Chris has performed with major folk artists all over New England, and his most current CD is the critically acclaimed “Red Sky in the Morning.” The Rounders feature multi-instrumentalist Tom Smith, spoken word performance artist (and two-time Mass Cultural Council award recipient) Cheryl Perreault, and guitarist Steve Rapson. Opening for the Rounders are Abbey and Jaclyn Perreault with their own indie take on traditional folk. Website
